In October 2019 the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Board appointed Michael Heron KC to investigate the unauthorised disclosure of sensitive information relating to its Auckland Light Rail project.

As part of the investigation Michael considered the Agency’s processes and technological frameworks and conducted a series of interviews with past and present members of the Agency. His final report made a number of recommendations for system improvements.
