Thomas studied business administration and law in Wiesbaden and Mainz and received his doctorate from the University of Cologne for a thesis on a topic regarding insolvency insurance for shareholder-employees’ occupational pensions. He began his legal career at Bell Gully in 2012 and subsequently practiced commercial litigation and international arbitration at Dechert LLP in London. In 2018, he moved back to Germany. He assisted with high-profile employment investigations and culture reviews. His work also spanned civil, disciplinary, and employment disputes. Since joining Rechtwise Liberty in 2022, Thomas has focused on investigations and reviews, often acting as an investigator or assisting in employment investigations. He represents senior executives in employment matters and professional disciplinary cases. Thomas also has extensive knowledge of banking practices and regulations, having worked with clients across multiple European countries, including Switzerland,Germany, Spain, Italy, and the UK.

So what is the difference between aiding and abetting? Aiding, as the names suggests, is helping. To abet means to urge on, instigate, or encourage. In any criminal case a defendant can either be charged as a principal or as a party to the offence.
